My concept:
¨Maybe we are not conscious of the damage that social media and our technology dependence is causing us because we can’t physically see the damage.¨
I researched the negative physical effects of technology on our bodies. Utilizing scientific renderings, I developed my design based on these insights
By creating molds of the desired shapes and using a fabric stiffener mixture, I crafted garments that showcase the silhouettes of the deformed bodies.
The impactful garments allow people to wear them and visualize the potential physical consequences of continued technology use, hoping to create an impact or start a conversation.
This project was a fascinating exploration for me, particularly in experimenting with fabric and transforming it into wearable objects. It allowed me to push the boundaries of design, using fashion as a medium to provoke thought and spark conversations.
Ultimately, this is what I want my designs to do: challenge perspectives and encourage people to reflect on real-world issues they don’t usually think twice about.
