Material Exploration - Ruana Reptiliana
This project reimagines the traditional Colombian ruana using a discarded hose found near a trash can in Madrid, transformed into a faux snakeskin-like, water-resistant "fabric" through heat manipulation.
Rooted in experimentation, this project involved extensive material tests, exploring both mechanical and chemical techniques. The process, resembling the act of skinning a snake, resulted in a flexible, innovative piece that honors my cultural heritage while pushing the boundaries of craft and design.
These samples represent the exploration of materiality. Starting with a watering hose and applying different techniques to transform it.
